Answer to Question 1

BEE = 66 + 13.7  wt + 5  ht - 6.8  age
= 66 + 13.7  134 + 5  177.8  6.8  48
= 66 + 1835.8 + 889  326.4
= 2464

I would recommend the AHA TLC diet with the  fat on the upper end and the  carbohydrate on the lower end (for palatability and to keep him on the diet longer). I would use about 1800 kcals for the same reasons mentioned above. FA's BEE is 2464 without a stress factor so coming down to 1800 will be still a lot of food but a considerable reduction. The TLC diet will focus on healthy eating, lipid profile, and antioxidants.

Answer to Question 2

Chronic obesity, elevated BP, waist measurement, blood glucose, cholesterol, TG, and LDL, with low HDL.
