The protein requirement increase was partially explained in question

Answer to Question 2

Mr. G originally weighed 225 lbs, lost 10 lbs to 215, and after dialysis weighed 210 lbs. To determine his BEE, I would use his IBW (IBW could be replaced with RBW or both could be calculated) and create an adjusted weight using 210 lbs as his overweight value. Also, in Part I of the case study, Mr. G was 45 years old. It is now 2 + years later as stated in Part II.

Adjusted body wt = (actual body wt - IBW)  0.25 + IBW
= (210 - 166)  0.25 + 166 = 177 lbs = 80.5 kg

BEE = 66 + (13.7  80.5) + (5  177.8) - (6.8  47) = 66 + 1102.8 + 889 - 319.6
= 1738 kcals 1738  1.5 = 2607 kcals

Answer to Question 3

Wet weight is the weight of the patient prior to dialysis while dry weight is the weight of the patient after dialysis.
