Balloon Dilation: expansion of a vessel by the insertion of a catheter that contains an inflatable balloon. The catheter is inserted in the area of obstruction and inflated with air. In the case of atherosclerosis, the plaque should be able to be moved, thus opening the blocked space.

Cardiac Cath: passage of a tiny tube into the heart through a blood vessel. Samples of blood are withdrawn, blood pressure and cardiac output are measured and occlusions are determined.

Treadmill Stress Test: subjects the patient to steadily increasing levels of work while the oxygen consumption, BP, and electrocardiogram are being monitored.

ACE inhibitor: an antihypertensive medication, specifically an angiotensin-converting enzyme used for lowering blood pressure.

Statin: an antihyperlipidemic agent, specifically a HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor. Reduces total cholesterol, triglycerides, and LDL-C, and increases HDL-C.
