Answer to Question 1

If permanent damage had not already been done, most likely the fat deposited in the liver would be used and the liver would return to normal functioning.

Answer to Question 2

CF is a disease of the exocrine glands. It affects the GI tract by causing obstruction by viscid or solid eosinophilic material in the lumen of the pancreas, intestinal glands, intrahepatic bile ducts, gallbladder, and submaxillary glands. Not all of these ducts have to be affected at the same time or with the same severity. The result is malabsorption.

CF affects the lungs by the secretion of abnormally thick mucus secretions. There is also bronchiolitis and mucopurulent plugging of the airways. Pulmonary infections are common.

There are also abnormally high sweat electrolytes.
