Answer to Question 1

CT means computed tomography. It uses computer technology combined with x-ray studies. It can detect lesions or other abnormalities not seen with an x-ray and can be more accurate than ultrasound. It is considered to be highly accurate for detecting tumors, abscesses, accumulations of fluid, and organ injury.

Answer to Question 2

The person with +-thalassemia minor does not have iron deficiency and therefore iron supplementation is not needed. The additional iron could cause iron overload, resulting in a serious condition.
