According to the IHDP Growth Percentiles for VLBW Premature Boys, how would you classify LV for height and weight for age at 9 months? What should his height and weight be at 9 months?

Answer to Question 1

MCV should remain the sameit is not affected by hydration. Hgb and Hct should drop below normal after hydration if she is anemic. BUN should be in the normal range and Na, K, and Cr should drop slightly. Glucose should drop some, but being treated for diabetes would have an effect on the drop in glucose also.

Answer to Question 2

Almost at the 5th percentile for weight and less than the 5th percentile for height. For a normal birth at 40 weeks, a 9 month old should be about 20.5 lbs and 28.5 ins for the 50th percentile. At 28 weeks, or 3 months early, 17.5 lbs and 26 ins for the 50th percentile would not be abnormal.
