The American Heart Association recommends an optimal blood pressure of less than 120/80 .

Small frequent meals; avoid gas-forming foods; do not lie down after eating; avoid caffeine; do not eat in a rush, try to eat in a relaxed atmosphere; chew food extremely well; eliminate everything that has a history of causing reflux; avoid alcohol; avoid aspirin. Because of her weight problem, and because fat slows gastric emptying, Mrs. CL should be on a low-fat diet with fried foods eaten very infrequently, if ever.
