Answer to Question 1

100 cc/h x 24h = 2400 cc of D5W per day
2400 x 5 = 120 g of glucose
120 x 3.4 kcals per g = 408 kcals

Answer to Question 2

Depressed hgb and hct indicate an anemia but do not give any indication of what kind or the cause. A small MCV indicates either an iron deficiency or B6 anemia.
