Answer to Question 1

MAMC = MAC cm - 0.314 x TSF mm
= 25.7 - 0.314 x 18
= 25.7 - 5.65
= 20.05

TSF = 18 mm = 50th percentile. MAMC = 20.05 cm = slightly under the 50th percentile. The cut off is 20.7 . The 50th to 95th percentile is considered adequate. Between the 50th and 30th is considered borderline and below the 20th percentile is considered severely depleted. MK is barely in the normal range for TSF and slightly below for MAMC. Since MK has been losing weight, and considering her history, it has to be assumed that she is on the low side of normal and in the process of decreasing. This can be discussed in class and the importance of anthropometric measurements done over a period of time emphasized.

Answer to Question 2

F to C = 5/9 (tF - 32) = tC
= 5/9 (99.8 - 32)
= 5/9 (67.8)
= 37.7 C

Answer to Question 3

99.8 - 98.6 = 1.2 1.2 x 7 = 8.4
BEE = 1260 x 8.4 = 105.8
1260 + 105.8 = 1365 adjusted BEE
