Answer to Question 1

4
Rationale: Tartrazine, also known as yellow dye  5, can cause a hypersensitivity reaction among clients with a salicylate allergy or intolerance to because of similar chemical structures. Lactose can cause gastric symptoms among clients who are lactose intolerant. Sorbital is a sugar alcohol that can cause a laxative effect. The addition of sulfites can cause wheezing and shortness of breath in clients who are sensitive to this substance.

Answer to Question 2

C
Most drug absorption occurs in the small intestine. Drugs disintegrate and dissolve in gastric juices in the stomach, but most are not absorbed here. Nothing is absorbed in the esophagus. Generally only water and a few nutrients are absorbed in the large intestine; some drugs can be absorbed from the rectum if they are administered as rectal suppositories.
