They would probably also want to make sure that they are safe to use in combination with any other medications the patient uses. Herbal supplements are not necessarily less expensive than conventional medications. Health practitioners should not rely on their own anecdotal experience when making recommendations to patients. Herbal supplements are regulated by the FDA, not by the USDA.
