Answer to Question 1

A
Feedback:
PPN may be infused via peripheral or central veins; however, peripheral is not widely used due to the caustic effects of the solution if it is not isotonic. It can lead to phlebitis due to the irritation of the solution on the tissues.

Answer to Question 2

B
During stress, glutamine is mobilized in large quantities from skeletal muscle and lung to be used directly as a fuel source by intestinal cells. Glutamine also plays a significant role in maintaining intestinal immune function and enhancing wound repair by supporting lymphocyte and macro-phage proliferation, hepatic gluconeogenesis, and fibroblast function. Arginine has a role in maintaining immune function in the gastrointestinal tract but is not as critical in stress as gluta-mine. Methionine and phenylalanine do not have specific roles during stress.
