Answer to Question 1

3

Rationale: In a limited number of studies, there was evidence that women who drank cranberry juice had fewer UTIs than women who did not. Dried cranberries and other products containing cranberries were not effective. Cranberry juice should be used along with adequate fluid intake and proper personal hygiene to prevent UTIs. Sweeteners used in juice have not been shown to contribute to UTI development.

Answer to Question 2

D
Malnutrition can lead to a decrease in integrity of the gastrointestinal tract that allows bacteria to spread from inside the intestines to the rest of the body. Usually, the intestines are still able to absorb fluids and electrolytes and transit time does not decrease. Bacterial activity inside the ga-strointestinal tract does not necessarily increase or decrease.
