Answer to Question 1

2
Rationale: Olive oil is a source of Cis-monounsaturated fat which has been shown to produce a modest decrease in LDL and a modest increase in HDL. Margarine contains trans fats which lead to increased levels of LDL and reduction in HDL. Fatty fish and walnuts are sources of n-3 polyunsaturated fat, which is linked with reduction of LDL cholesterol and a possible modest increase in HDL.

Answer to Question 2

D
Parents can encourage their toddlers to eat a variety of foods by modeling this behavior and eat-ing a variety of foods themselves. It is not helpful to offer rewards for trying new foods; parents want children to learn that eating well is its own reward. Parents should not allow free access to foods at all times but should serve regular meals and snacks at about the same time eat day. Dis-guising foods to look like favorite foods simply creates suspicion and negative feelings toward new foods.
