Increased oxygen needs during pregnancy result in increased BMR. Stamina may actually de-crease because the fetus places extra demands on the body. Increases in blood pressure may sometimes occur but are not caused by increased oxygen needs. Bowel motility generally de-creases during pregnancy because of high progesterone levels.
