Answer to Question 1

1

Rationale: The Dietary Reference Intakes for adults between 19 years and 50 years do not change significantly form adolescence with the exception of the recommendations for calcium, phosphorus, and iron. Calcium recommendation decrease to 1.00mg from 1,300 as an adolescent and phosphorus recommendation drop to 700 mg, from 1,250 mg.

Answer to Question 2

B
Exercise helps maintain lean body mass (muscle). Weight loss causes some loss of lean body mass and ensuring adequate protein intake will help maintain lean body mass, but these effects are less significant than that of exercise. Decreasing dietary fat intake does not affect lean body mass.
