Rationale: Antioxidants prevent damage to cells from free radicals, the by-products of metabolism or environmental damage to cells. Vitamin D is synthesized in the skin and has hormone-like qualities. Antioxidants have no role in reducing lipid levels, nor do they have a role in digestion or absorption that take place in the small intestine.
