Answer to Question 1

1
Rationale: The average adult needs only 0.8 gm/kg/day to keep the body in a state of protein equilibrium; therefore 60 grams (75 kg x 0.8 gm/kg/day = 60 grams) should be adequate as long as the client is in good health.

Answer to Question 2

C
Busy lifestyles, stress that causes muscle tension, lack of exercise to maintain tone in gastroin-testinal muscles, and lack of dietary fiber (from fruits and vegetables and whole grains) are likely to result in constipation. Diarrhea may be caused by stress, but not by lack of fruits and vegeta-bles or lack of exercise. Vomiting is caused by motion sickness or by ingestion of a virus or toxin. Lactose intolerance is caused by an inability to digest lactose, the sugar in milk.
