Coronary heart disease is the leading cause of death among people with diabetes. It makes sense that nutrition recommendations are the same by the American Diabetic Association and American Heart Association.

Fat provides the highest number of kcals: 9 per gram. Protein and carbohydrate each provide 4 kcals per gram. Alcohol provides 7 kcals per gram
