Answer to Question 1

By no means should students be under the impression that a good reporter has to have all eight characteristics or that he or she cannot make a good reporter if he or she does not possess any one or more of the qualities. The characteristics are meant to serve as desired qualities that some reporters may or may not possess.

Answer to Question 2

Although certainly a viable answer, students should be encouraged to give an answer other than because reporters can make a lot of money.
