Answer to Question 1

Technology has not changed some of the methods of discovery such as interrogatories, requests for productionor depositions. What has changed is the type information requested and its location. Most documents are now created electronically rather than on paper and stored on a storage device rather than as paper copies in a file. The purposes of discovery remain unchanged. Discovery is used to evaluate the case, prepare for trial, facilitate settlement, and preserve evidence.
