Supporters of self-regulation also contend that industry will be more likely to accept and comply with rules designed and imposed by their peers. One challenge with self-regulation is the difficulty of monitoring whether companies comply with standards established by the industry. Other criticisms of self-regulation include the lack of enforcement and no system of redress for breaches of industry set guidelines.
