One Caribbean fruit which is fascinating is the ackee. It has a very unusual
appearance, with a bulbous knob at the top Its flesh is also interesting with a pink
color. Its flesh looks like a mango or guava. Another interesting feature is that the
ackee is toxic when it isn't ripe. It is included in a national breakfast dish of
Jamaica where it is paired with saltfish. Also of interest is its texture which is like
that of scrambles eggs.
