To begin this discussion it is important to look at the geography of France. The
land (soil) that exists in France, the weather that France has, and the proximity to
the sea are some of the reasons why France has one of the greatest agricultural
regions in the world. It has the second greatest agriculture after the United States.
It is the foundation for a world-class cuisine. Another factor of geography which
influences the greatness of French cuisine is the fact that it borders countries like
Spain, Italy, and Germany whose cuisines seep into the fabric of the French
cuisine, helping to make it more diverse and interesting. Because of these various
geographic components the people of France have developed an attachment to the
land, and what it produces. It is the beginning of why France has created a world
class cuisinethe people of France are passionate about their food and cooking.
