Because of its growing size and economic clout, the Hispanic/Latino community is having a great
impact on the ability of organizations to achieve their strategic goals. What were once nontraditional
publics have evolved into important traditional publics. The diversity within the Hispanic/Latino
community is a challenge unto itself. Effective messages, tactics, and strategies directed toward one
segment of the community may not work in another. There also is the language barrier, in which
words and concepts in English may not easily translate into Spanish.
