Social bond theory contains four elements: attachments, commitments, involvement, and belief. Attachment refers to an individual's relationships with others and how much they care about what others think. Commitments involve how much an individual has to lose. Involvement refers to the time an individual spends doing noncriminal activities. Belief focuses on how much an individual believes that the law should be obeyed.
