Answer to Question 1

The four categories of sentencing goals and objectives, with an example of each are:
(1) rehabilitation, such as providing addiction treatment for drug addicts, (2)
deterrence, such as the death penalty prevents the offender from committing the
crime again, (3) incapacitation, such as a sentence to prison where the offender is
unable to commit crime, and (4) retribution, such as the death penalty for crime.

Answer to Question 2

There are numerous explanations for enterprise crime. Some offenders are motivated by greed; others offend because of personal problems. They use rationalizations to allow their financial needs to be met without compromising their values. Corporate-culture theory suggests that some businesses actually encourage employees to cheat or cut corners. The self-control view is that white-collar criminals are like any other law violators: impulsive people who lack self-control.

There are major differences in the metabolism of morphine and the illegal drug heroin. Morphine mostly produces its CNS effects through m-receptors, and at k- and d-receptors. Heroin has a slight affinity for opiate receptors. Most of its actions are due to metabolism to active metabolites (6-acetylmorphine, morphine, and morphine-6-glucuronide).
