o record of a case for review. A party can petition the Supreme Court to issue a writ of certiorari, but whether the Court will do so is entirely within its discretion.

Like all appellate courts, the Supreme Court normally does not hear any evidence.
o The Court's decision in a particular case is based on the written record of the
case and the written arguments, or briefs, that the attorneys submit.
