Target hardening, more lighting, alarms, surveillance, patrols etc.
Reduce hot spots for crime, more public awareness of risk, signage, and neighborhood watch
More geospatial analysis of crime trends

UCR data  particularly the Supplemental Homicide Reports
Geospatial data that shows dispersion of crime over different geographical areas particularly by date and time
