Answer: key points to be made
Attempts to explain both conformity and deviance
Two types of containment inner and outer
Inner is self-control and discipline, regulated by personal ethos and values, having a healthy ego that isnt pressured by peers negatively, will behave even when no one is watching
Outer control is provided by others, teachers, parents, coaches, authority figures
Kids with low inner are at higher risk for delinquency even with outer because you arent watched or supervised all the time, control has to come from within

Attachment  one of the strongest, most commonly used in research, usually with attachment to parents and to school
Involvement  number of conforming activities that keep one out of risk for delinquency
Commitment  the time and energy devoted to law abiding goals, organizations and activities, dedication to achievements that are socially approved
Belief  deep inner trust in social institutions such as church and government, faith in existing moral order
