Answer to Question 1

Blister packaging forms a pocket of stiff plastic material in a standard thermoforming method. The pocket is filled with the product and then sealed. Skin packs are made with a flexible plastic that is formed over the top of the part and the display card by drawing a vacuum through holes in the card. The skin pack is, therefore, tight against the product and the card whereas the blister pack is not tight against the product, but allows some movement of the product inside the pocket

Answer to Question 2

The desired material is extruded through a die creating a tube of melted resin. At the center of this tube is an air nozzle that inflates the extrudate out to the sizing basket. The sizing basket helps to contain the blown film along with the regulation of the air pressure. Once the material has cooled to an appropriate temperature it runs through collapsing guides that help to fold the blown film in preparation for labeling, sealing and trimming. After the collapsing guides, the film goes through the nip rollers that remove as much air as possible. The film then goes through whatever processes are necessary for that particular film; these processes may include perforation, labeling,

sealing or slitting. After this post process the film is generally rolled onto a take-up roll and shipped to customers.

Answer to Question 3

Shot size and clamping pressure. If shot size is not sufficient, the part will not be filled. If clamping pressure is not sufficient, the mold will leak and flash will occur.
