At ACME, you have been asked to specify the material and process for a new part. You favor pre-preg material; your supervisor says wet-layup is cheaper. Who is right and why? Include all parameters you think pertinent.

Answer to Question 1

This answer depends on their justification. One justification for the benefits of prepreg verses wet layup include the waste that could be involved in making sure that the fibers are fully wet, whereas prepreg is fully wet. You pay for that, but it's easier to make sure that there is a consistency in the fibers by using prepreg. The base materials would be cheaper to do a wet layup, but the cost in time and QC would be a good justification for the use of Prepreg.
