Answer to Question 1

Being a teenager, being on the cheerleading squad where thin is in, and her excessive interest in exercise. The social life of a teenager mandates very serious dietary controls, especially in this beautiful culture we live in today.

Answer to Question 2

Radiation of the head or neck can cause a decrease in salivary secretions, which causes dry mouth (xerostomia) and difficulty in swallowing (dysphagia). It can also cause damage to the taste buds and could also affect taste and smell, causing loss of appetite and weight loss. This reduction in saliva also causes tooth decay and sometimes the loss of teeth. Severe weight loss from not eating enough can also result from radiation therapy. Radiation reduces the amount of absorptive tissue in the small intestine. In addition, it can cause bowel obstruction or diarrhea.
