Children with cystic fibrosis are chronically undernourished, grow poorly, and have difficulty maintaining normal body weight. Complications that may develop over time include pancreatitis, glucose intolerance or diabetes (due to destruction of insulin-producing cells), and gallbladder and liver diseases.
