Answer to Question 1

People suffering from anorexia nervosa are often anemic due to insufficient iron intake; suffer from reduced body temperature and insomnia; have reduced heart muscle mass and function; have electrolyte imbalances; experience changes in thought processes; and can suffer from kidney failure. Anorexia nervosa is self-starvation that results in protein-energy malnutrition, and thus anorexia has the same consequences as the PEM associated with food poverty. Energy deficit results in wasting of lean body massmuscles, and eventually organsand this, combined with micronutrient deficiencies, causes malfunctioning of various tissues, organs, and organ systems.
