Why is it important for the diet to have enough carbohydrates in order for the body to be able to make optimal use of dietary protein?

If the body has enough carbohydrates, it will break them down to produce energy. The dietary protein can be broken down into amino acids that can be used for maintenance of body tissues, for antibody production, or for hormone production. The body does not need to use amino acids to make glucose or provide energy since there is an ample amount of glucose already present.
