Short-term adverse effects of high glucose include frequent urination, increased thirst, increased hunger, fatigue, weight loss, blurred vision, increased susceptibility to infection, and delayed wound healing. Long-term effects include heart disease, hypertension, blindness, kidney failure, stroke, and the loss of limbs.
