List at least four factors associated with intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR).

 a. food energy intake was usually the same from meal to meal.
  b. the total daily energy intake was highly inconsistent.
  c. if they ate more at one meal, they ate less at the next.
  d. energy intake decreases as children get older.

IUGR may be associated with genetic factors, congenital anomalies, infection, multiple gestation, maternal nutrition, environmental toxins, placental factors and maternal vascular disease such as diabetes, chronic hypertension, advanced maternal age, and morbid obesity.
