Dietary changes affect the level of intake of many nutrients. Switching from a high-fat to a low-fat diet, for instance, may result in a lower intake of calories and higher intake of dietary fiber and vitamins. Consequently, dietary changes introduced for the purpose of improving intake of a particular nutrient produce a ripple effect on the intake of other nutrients.
