To prevent risk of contamination of formula, the best intervention is to:
 a. discard refrigerated opened containers of formula after 48 hours.
  b. hang no more than a 24-hour supply of formula in an open system.
  c. add a new feeding container and tubing every 24 hours to the feeding tube left in place.
  d. promptly add new formula into the container in the open system when only a small amount of solution remains in the tubing.
