Answer to Question 1

TRUE

Answer to Question 2

In infants and children, vitamin D deficiency can result in improper bone mineralization-a disease called rickets. Children with rickets experience slow growth and have characteristically bowed legs or knocked knees that develop because their long leg bones cannot support the stress of weight-bearing activities such as walking. Rickets can also cause the breastbone to protrude outward and the rib cage to become narrow, often resulting in cardiac and respiratory problems.
