That is correct. Humans do not possess the appropriate
digestive enzymes to break the types of chemical bond
found in fiber. Interestingly, bacteria in the large intestine
can and do break down dietary fiber. Thus, although
humans cannot digest fiber, some bacteria that reside in
humans can.
