People facing hunger can be proactive or reactive. Proactive people will seek to utilize local resources such as charitable organizations. Reactive people will resort to stealing, begging, or scavenging food. Food insecurity can cause feelings of alienation, deprivation, and distress. It can adversely affect family dynamics and social interactions within the community.
