The DRIs are the reference values used to determine percentages of nutrients consumed. Establishing benchmarks for nutrient intake required the input and analysis of researchers organized by the Institute of Medicine, a division of the National Academy of Sciences. The Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) comprise four main sets of reference values for nutrient consumption: EARs, RDAs, AIs, and ULs.
