Establishing benchmarks for nutrient intake required the input and analysis of researchers organized by the Institute of Medicine, a division of the National Academy of Sciences. The Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) comprise four main sets of reference values for nutrient consumption: EARs, RDAs, AIs, and ULs.
