Answer to Question 1

When muscle is forced to contract against excessive resistance, fibers are damaged. This damage is referred to as a
strain and can range from a minor separation of fibers to a complete tear. A sprain is caused by damage to a
ligament, which is connective tissue that provides support for joints.

Answer to Question 2

Overtraining is the greatest risk for developing an exercise-related injury. Overtraining results from a combination
of overload, overuse, and advancing the exercise program too quickly.
