Despite the world-wide popularity of Facebook and other social networking sites, being online and texting too
much are behaviors that ultimately can result in added stress in the long run. Answers will vary but could include
the following:
  Spending more time in online interactions than in physical face-to-face interactions can lead to social isolation.
  Being unable to text, update one's status, or interact using a social network sites can lead to feelings of anxiety,
apprehension and stress.
  Frequently texting or using social network sites at times that are considered inappropriate (e.g., class, work,
church, or on a date) can have negative impact on one's reputation and impact one's social and/or professional
relationships.
  Comparing oneself or one's life to other or the lives of others in a social network can lead to feelings of
inadequacy and poor self-esteem.
  Texting and social network habits can have a negative impact on relationships, grades, work performance, or
many other aspects of one's life.
  Time spent texting and using social network sites can have a negative effect on one's time management.

Answer to Question 2

Allostasis refers to the ability of the body to change and adapt to stressful situations. Long-term stress does not
allow for adequate adaptation. The allostatic load is the point at which there is too much stress, leading to
compromised health.
