Answer to Question 2

Qualified label claims suggest that an herbal supplement may be able to cure or manage a medical condition. For example, gingko biloba has claims that it may help with memory. The concerns are that these products are not tested prior to approval for sale by an agency like the FDA. So these products may be sold without any real definitive proof that they work. This may also prevent a person from getting medical treatment that may actually work more effectively. The FDA will investigate products with fraudulent claims that are brought to the agency's attention. The FDA does not seek out or mandate presale testing of these products. (www.fda.gov)
