Corn, potato, and dairy products are often subsidized by the government. For example, students could have cooked corn and vegetables as an afternoon snack or they could have baked or mashed potatoes which are healthier alternatives to French fries. They could also have cheese sticks or yogurt for dairy products. These are lower in lactose sugar and will provide needed fat and protein in the diet each day. Ice cream is a form of dairy that can provide more energy in the form of sugar as well.
