They could add vegetable or olive oil to their dishes. These oils provide satisfaction of fats without the saturated or trans-fats that are found in animal based fast foods. The vegetable oils, used in moderation, will give the food more flavor, fullness, and not increase the calories as much. They could experience with different styles of food preparation such as baking to add crunch to some of their dishes. They may also try adding some spices to give the food more flavor.
