One of the concerns regarding olestra is that:
 a. it increases the risk of obesity by providing 9 calories per gram.
  b. it increases the risk of high blood pressure in sensitive individuals.
  c. it can inhibit the absorption of vitamins.
  d. it is hard to avoid because it is naturally found in foods.

The use by or sell by dates are only estimates set by food manufacturers or food processors. If a food is harvested before it is ripe, it is likely to be edible well past most use by or sell by dates. Many consumers may believe that crops lose nutrients as they age. While some may lose some nutrients, they are still very nutritious as long as they are intact.
